Attack of the killer LANs

Boy is this one a doozy. You'd think people would be happy if their children got state-of-the-art education, but you'd think wrong: as Walter Olson so succinctly puts it at Overlawyered, "fear springs eternal."

A bunch of parents in Oak Park, Illinois are suing their school board for installing WiFi technology in their children's schools. The complaint (PDF file) includes the following:

Responsible scientists have reported that prolonged exposure to low intensity RF radiation can break down DNA strands, cause chromosome aberrations and break down the blood-brain barrier, thereby permitting toxic proteins to invade the brain...
Plaintiffs and the Class are threatened with irreparable harm by Defendants’ conduct in that they have been exposed to grave health risks, many of which lead to permanent injury, disease and death.

As it happens, I just watched Safe on DVD a couple of nights ago. As Intel's "Unwire" campaign continues, I have visions of new-age "wirelessless" communities springing up in the desert, oases from which to escape from the evil side-effects of contemporary life. Imagine there's no WiFi!
