James Turrell is working hard. He has skyspaces in at least eight different contemporary art museums, and is happy building them for private individuals who install wet bars in them, too. He'll even collaborate with famous architects. Is there anything he won't do? Evidently not: the New York Times yesterday outed him as designing a screening room for a powerful Hollywood producer. Still, I shan't accuse him of selling out: I'm sure that most of the proceeds from these things are being ploughed straight back into Roden Crater. If the cost of building a major landmark in the history of fine art is scratching a few Hollywood backs, I say it's worth it.
