I'm not allowed to "upgrade to Times Select for free", since if I try, I get this, saying I "cannot enroll again":
Nowhere, does it seem, is there a Times Select login page. Unbelieveable.
UPDATE: Fixed! After another phone conversation with Eliot Pierce. Turns out there isn't a Times Select login page, and that you have to log out of nytimes.com and then log in again in order to reset your cookies. But there's no doubt that the whole process is a lot less clean and transparent than one would hope or expect.
Seems like if the Times is keeping you from Krugman, they're doing you a favor.
Posted by: Sterling on September 19, 2005 05:44 PMI can't believe I had to search the blogs for the "trick" to getting the TimesSelect material. I logged out of nytimes.com and back in and finally got the content. Thank you! The person I called at NYT had no clue. What a joke.
Posted by: Annette on September 19, 2005 10:48 PMNot so fast. I thought of logging out, too, since I noticed that the Times changed my ID to my email address. Logging out and logging back in did not work for me.
Posted by: Matthew Newman on September 20, 2005 03:05 PMI still cannot log onto Times Select despite logging out and back on, repeatedly. Yes, I do wonder if they are just trying to keep us from certain columnists.
Posted by: Gloria Dougherty on September 22, 2005 11:13 AMI have been trying for days to sign up for Times Select without success. Now I find out that nI'm not the only one. I'm fairly new to computers so do nott know of any tricks to run the labrynth

I am currently serving in northern Afghanistan and am unable to call anyone for help. I can't access e-mail every day, but I signed up for Times Select a month ago hoping to get some news some of the time. Like those above who have posted their complaints above, I CAN'T ACCESS THE SERVICE. My credit card statement shows that the NYTIMES has my money, but I can't get in. HELP!!
